Belarus’ gold, FX reserves up 1.3% in Jan-Aug to $6.055 bln

Belarus’ gold and foreign exchange reserves [calculated under the national methodology] went up 1.3% in January-August 2010 to U.S. $6.055 billion, according to the National Bank of Belarus (NBB).

Foreign exchange reserves had increased 24.5% to $3.15 billion by September 1, 2010.

The amount of precious metals and stones in the NBB reserves increased 18.3% in January-August to $1.343 billion, of monetary gold amounted to $876.2 million as of September 1, 2010, up 6.7% from January 1, 2010, of gold on foreign bank accounts increased 75.6% to $327.4 million, of other precious metals went up 13.1% to $94.4 million, and of precious stones went up 0.9% to $45.4 million.

Other reserve assets decreased 32.5% to $1.562 billion as of September 1, 2010.

In 2009, Belarus’ gold and foreign exchange reserves rose 63.2% to $5.979 billion.
