Lithuania interested in broader cooperation with Belarus in agriculture
Lithuania is interested in expanding cooperation with Belarus in agriculture, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Lithuania to Belarus Edminas Bagdonas reported.
The diplomat remarked that Belarusian tractors and other agricultural machines are well-known on the Lithuanian market. At present new opportunities for expanding the Belarusian-Lithuanian cooperation using European Union funds have emerged. Those are projects that provide for starting up European-quality agricultural product manufacturing. All the certificates required for selling the products in Europe will be acquired. “During the milk dispute between Belarus and Russia we were not idle. We sought forms of cooperation with Belarus,” said Edminas Bagdonas. “Heads of our agricultural authorities discussed programs and prospects for re-equipping Belarusian dairy factories”. In particular, there are plans to acquire a European certificate that will allow exporting Belarusian products to the European Union.
“I think we have many opportunities for cooperation in this area,” stressed the Ambassador of Lithuania to Belarus. He remarked that Lithuania had refitted its agribusiness to enable exports to Europe a long time ago. “We are participants of the European manufacturing and sales network and would like to share our experience with Belarus. I think it will be beneficial both for you and us,” said the diplomat.
