| Customs Law to enhance competitiveness of Belarusian producers

The Customs Law will help raise the competitiveness of Belarusian producers, Deputy Chairman of the State Customs Committee of Belarus Sergei Borisyuk told reporters , has learnt.
In 2012 the draft Customs Law of Belarus is to be elaborated and submitted to the National Assembly. Alongside with the active Customs Code of the Customs Union, this draft law will make the foundation of the Belarusian customs legislation. “The draft law will include all tested approaches to customs regulation to help Belarusian economic operators engaged in foreign economic activities to minimize costs. This will also enhance their competitiveness,” Sergei Borisyuk noted.
Belarus will keep working within the framework of the World Customs Organization. In April 2012 Belarus will welcome a group of experts of the World Customs Organization who will assess Belarus’ achievements in upgrading customs administration.
The Deputy Chairman of the State Customs Committee spoke about cooperation between the customs bodies of the Union State. The work of the customs authorities of Belarus and Russia in the two-party format was rather active. After a joint board of the customs services of Belarus, Kazakhstan and Russia was established, the major negotiations have been held within the troika format. The joint board develops and delivers joint decisions. At the same time, the two-party format still exists. “We are working closely with our Russian counterparts within the framework of the Union State, first of all, in the field of joint information technologies,” Sergei Borisyuk said. “We team up to address common tasks, unify approaches, methods and ways of customs control,” he added.
